A&P Abdomen Regions

Quadrants and Nine Regions

QuestionAnswer
Axial Refers to the head, neck, and trunk
Thoracic Region Above the diaphragm
Abdominal Region Below the diaphragm
Appendicular Refers to the limbs
Right Upper Quadrant Found in this quadrant are the liver, gallbladder, right kidney, duodenum (small intestine), and the head of the pancreas.
Left Upper Quadrant Found in this quadrant are the stomach, body of the pancreas, spleen, left kidney, the left liver, and parts of the descending colon.
Right Lower Quadrant Found in this quadrant are the ascending colon, cecum, appendix, right ureter, and right ovary.
Left Lower Quadrant Found in this quadrant are the descending and sigmoid colon, the left ureter, and the left ovary.
