What is Scapulohumeral rhythm? a concept that further describes the movement relationship between the shoulder girdle and shoulder joint.
What muscles work together to make downward rotation of the Scapula? Levator Scapula, Rhomboids, and Pectoralis minor
What makes up the Shoulder Complex? Scapula, Clavicle, Sternum, Humerus, and Rib Cage
Describe the Sternoclavicular Legament and what it does. It provides the shoulder girdle with it's only direct attachment to the trunk. It's a synovial joint and has a double gliding motion.
Where is the Scapula located anatomically? Between the second and seventh ribs, with the vertebral border approximately two to three inches lateral from the spinous processes of the vertebrae.
What nerve innervates the Upper trap? Spinal Accessory (cranial nerve XI) C3 and C4 sensory component.
What nerve innervates the Levator Scapula? Third and Fourth cervical nerves and dorsal scapular nerve C5
What nerve innervates the Rhomboid Muscles? Dorsal Scapular nerve C5
What nerve innervates the Serratus Anterior? Long Thoracic nerve C5, C6, C7
What nerve innervates the Pectoralis minor muscle? Medial pectoral nerve C8, T1
Define force Couple muscles pulling in different directions to accomplish the same motion.
What muscle works synergistically with the Latissimus Dorsi? Teres Major
What ligament provides a protective roof ? Coracoacromial Ligament
What muscles make up the rotator cuff? Subscapularis, supraspinatus, infraspinatus, and teres minor
Define the rotator cuff A tendinous band formed by various muscles that help to keep the head of the humerus "rotating" against the glenoid fossa during joint motion.
