| What are the layers of the epidermis, and how many layers are there? | Stratum basale, stratum spinosum, stratum granulosum, stratum lucidum, stratum corneum; There are 5 layers in total |
| What is the bottommost layer of the epidermis, and what is its function? | Stratum basale; Begins rapid cell division here, melanocytes/merkel cells/keratinocytes created on this layer. |
| What is the outermost layer of the epidermis made of. and how much of it? | 15 to 20 layers of dead skin cells (keratinocytes) |
| pH stands for this: | "The power of hydrogen" |
| If hydrogen ion concentration increases, is it more acidic or basic? What happens to the pH value after this? | It becomes more acidic; pH value decreases. |
| What is the scale of pH ranging from, and what is the "middle value"? | From levels 1-14, the "neutral" level is 7 |
