| Cardioversion | Procedure to treat arrhythmias; involves administering an electric shock to restore the heart to a normal rhythm. | |
| Pulse rate | One of the four vital signs; measured by feeling the patient’s pulse and counting the number of beats per minute | |
| Sclerotherapy | Injection of medication into a varicose vein to occlude and harden the vein; blood flow is then redirected to another vein and the varicose vein is no longer distended. |
