Transatlantic Slavery (Slave Trade) Global Slave trade crossing the Atlantic bringing 10mil-12million slaves
Slave rebellion In 1739 the Stono Slave Rebellion had 80 participants. It was the Largest slave rebellion.
Pontiac's war Proclamation line law of 1763 causes/ influenced Pontiac's war. Native Americans. British General Jeffery Amherst imposed the policies of division to control the land. Pontiac's wanted to prevent the incursion of colonial settlers. Neolin was a prophet.
What was the largest American city during the 18th century Philadelphia
Slavery legality In 1750, Slavery was legal in every North American British colony at that time.
Task system It was a system of slave labor that offered enslaved people the greatest independence and use of their time.
Quakers The first English group to be against slavery stationed in Pennsylvania (against slavery but not for equality) they just couldn't rationalize slavery.
3 main categories in colonial government Royal, proprietary, Self-governing
Political parties An organization that compete in elections and aim to acquire and exercise political power
Interest groups Citizen that join together to influence public policy or government with a common interest.
Coverture The legal status of a married woman, considered to be under her husband’s protection and authority.
Family structure White Men were considered elite. White women young and old do household chores. (coverture)
Where did the great awakening began? New England
Northeastern slavery Slavery wasn't as popular there. They got more imported goods or trade. They never developed plantations. Enslaved Africans worked along with European tenat farmers. New York in 1750 40% enslaved population.
Southeastern slavery Under the Task System an had cultural autonomy (self-governing.)
Malaria Malaria and other tropical diseases spread and caused many enslavers to live away from their plantations. These elites,typically lived in Charleston townhouses to avoid the diseases of the rice fields. West Africans, however, were far more likely to have
