adenohypophysis the anterior portion of the pituitary gland
infundibulum connects it to the hypothalamus of the brain.
Somatotrophs secrete growth hormone
Corticotrophs secrete adrenocorticotropic hormone
Thyrotrophs secrete thyroid-stimulating hormone
Lactotrophs secrete prolactin
Gonadotrophs secrete luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone
somatotropin promotes bodily growth indirectly by stimulating the liver and other tissues to pro-duce another hormone called insulin-like growth
Prolactin produced by acidophils in the pars anterior
Thyroid-stimulating hormone pro-motes and maintains the growth and development of its target gland—the thyroid.
Adrenocorticotropic hormone promotes and maintains normal growth and development of the cortex of the adrenal gland.
