Cellular Respiration Cells use O2 for metabolism breaking down food like glucose to CO2 & H2O
Internal Respiration Exchange of gases between tissue cells & tissue capillaries
External Respiration Exchange of O2 & CO2 between air & lungs & blood & capillaries
Oxygenation / Oxygen Saturation refers to concentration of oxygen in the blood: Normal - 95% - 100% 90% - Low 80% - May compromise organ function including brain & heart
Surfactant phospholipid detergent - keeps lungs expanded
Phagocytosis Certain cells will engulf & destroy microorganisms & cellular debris
Lymph interstitial fluid that has entered the lymphatic system
ECG / EKG both mean electrocardiogram, ECG is written, EKG is spoken - graphic record of heart electrical activity or conduction of impulses
P Wave depolarization of the atria, abnormal P wave - atrial enlargement
QRS Complex represents depolarization of the ventricles & atrial repolarization prolonged - ventricular conduction delay
T Wave repolarization of ventricles inverted T Wave seen after myocardial damage
