| Cellular Respiration | Cells use O2 for metabolism breaking down food like glucose to CO2 & H2O |
| Internal Respiration | Exchange of gases between tissue cells & tissue capillaries |
| External Respiration | Exchange of O2 & CO2 between air & lungs & blood & capillaries |
| Oxygenation / Oxygen Saturation | refers to concentration of oxygen in the blood: Normal - 95% - 100% 90% - Low 80% - May compromise organ function including brain & heart |
| Surfactant | phospholipid detergent - keeps lungs expanded |
| Phagocytosis | Certain cells will engulf & destroy microorganisms & cellular debris |
| Lymph | interstitial fluid that has entered the lymphatic system |
| ECG / EKG | both mean electrocardiogram, ECG is written, EKG is spoken - graphic record of heart electrical activity or conduction of impulses |
| P Wave | depolarization of the atria, abnormal P wave - atrial enlargement |
| QRS Complex | represents depolarization of the ventricles & atrial repolarization prolonged - ventricular conduction delay |
| T Wave | repolarization of ventricles inverted T Wave seen after myocardial damage |
