The first ten amendments to the Constitution and the freedoms they protect
| Term | Definition |

| 1st Amendment | Freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of the press, assembly, and petition the Government. |
| 2nd Amendment | The right to bear arms |
| 3rd Amendment | Do not have to house troops unless the owner gives consent. |
| 4th Amendment | Protection from unwarranted searches and seizures of property or effects. |
| 5th Amendment | "Double Jeopardy", protection from testifying against yourself |
| 6th Amendment | Speedy trial by jury |
| 7th Amendment | Civil suit in court over amounts greater than $20 can be heard by a jury. |
| 8th Amendment | Protection from excessive bail, fines, and cruel and unusual punishments |
| 9th Amendment | The rights listed in the constitution are not limited or an exhaustive list of rights/freedoms |
| 10th Amendment | Powers not given to the Government by the constitution are reserved for the states. |
