| What is physiology? | the science that deals with the functions of the living organism and its parts |
| What is the definition of atomic number? | number of protons in an atom's nucleus |
| What is the definition of mass number? | mass of a single atom; equals the number of protons plus the number of neutrons in the atom's nucleus |
| What is the purpose/function of the nucleus? | houses genetic code, dictates protein synthesis, and plays a role in cell transport, metabolism, and growth |
| What are the four functions of the IMPs (integral membrane proteins)? | Transport, identification, signaling, and connection |
| What are the four major skin tissues of the body? | epithelial, connective, muscle, and nervous |
| What are the cell layers of skin? From deepest to most superficial | stratum basale, stratum spinosum, stratum granulosum, stratum lucidum, stratum corneum |
| What are the functions of our bones? | Provide support, protection, movement, mineral storage, and hematopoiesis |
| What is hematopoiesis? | it is the blood cell formation that takes place in bones, specifically by red bone marrow |
