dysphoria a restless, dissatisfied mood
mania state of abnormal elation and increased activity
neurosis a psychologic condition in which anxiety is prominent
dysthymia a milder affective disorder characterized by chronic depression
ALS amyotrophic lateral sclerosis
ANS autonomic nervous system
CSF cerebrospinal fluid
paraplegia paralysis of the legs and lower trunk
brain portion of the central nervous system contained within the cranium
sulci shallow grooves that separate gyri
fissures deep grooves in the brain
motor deficit loss or impairment of muscle function
syncope fainting
hyperesthesia increased sensitivity to stimulation such as touch or pain
astereognosis inability to judge the form of an object by touch
dyslexia a condition of difficulty understanding written or spoken words or phrases
GAD generalized anxiety disorder
sedative drug that has a calming effect and quiets nervousness
