Flashcards for Genetics

TermDefinition
Genetics The study of heredity.
Genotypes The coding for genes that get passed down through heredity. (AA/Aa/aa)
Phenotypes What you physically observe/see on a person. (Red eyes, Brown hair, etc)
Heredity The passing down of traits.
Dominant Allele Only one of these needed for the result of a dominant trait.
Recessive Allele Two needed for a recessive trait to show up, and is hidden when a dominant allele is present.
Punnet Square A square that is used to determine which traits will show up and which will not.
Dominant Trait A trait that is more likely to show up than the other.
Recessive Trait A trait that is less likely to show up than the other.
