TermDefinition
Serratus Anterior The muscle that helps hold the scapula against the thorax and is useful in pushing or punching movements.
Trapezius The muscle that raises or lowers the shoulders or shrugs them.
Tracts The bundles of nerve fibers within the central nervous system.
Astrocytes The glia cells that help form the blood-brain barrier.
Plexuses The ventral rami of most spinal nerves subdivide to form complex networks.
Ventricles The large fluid-filled spaces within the brain.
Facial The nerve carrying taste information from the anterior two-thirds of the tongue.
The Thyroid Gland The endocrine gland that stores enough of its hormone extracellularly to last several months.
Perfusion Pressure The localized pressure gradient needed to maintain blood flow in a tissue.
Endothelium The type of membranous tissue that lines the heart and blood vessels.
Lymph Nodes Bean-shaped structures located at certain intervals along the lymphatic system.
Natural Killer Cells Lymphocytes that kill many types of tumor cells and cells infected by different kinds of viruses.
Pneumonia Inflammation of the lower respiratory tract that involves the airways of the lungs.
Conchae The structures that deflect air as it passes through the nose.
