Homeostaisis The relatively constant states maintained by the body.
Diffusion Molecule movement from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration.
Osmosis Water movement from an area of high concentration to an area of lowconcentration.
Cell metabolism The chemical reactions of the cell.
Catabolism Metabolism that breaks down molecules and releases energy.
Anabolism Metabolism that builds large, complex molecules from smaller ones.
Anaerobic Does not require oxygen
Aerobic Requires oxygen
transcription Synthesis of any RNA molecule that was copied or "transcribed" from a DNA molecule.
Translation Process where the cell interprets or "translates" the genetic code anf form a specific sequence of amino acids.
Mitosis The process of organizing and distributing nuclear DNA during cell division.
Meiosis Cell division that occurs only in primitive sex cells during the process of becoming mature sex cells.
