Government The people who run our country AND the rules and laws we follow
Republic Leaders are elected by SOME of the people
Represent Make decisions for the people who elected them
Democracy A form of government in which EVERY citizen has the right to take part
Citizen An official member of a country
Constitution A document; the plan for our government
A federal government A form of government where the national and state governments share power
Bill of Rights The first 10 amendments
Rights Something you are free to (can) do
Responsibility Something you should (must) do
Passport A government document that lets you go to foreign countries
Taxes The money the government collects to pay for its services
Jury Citizens who make decisions in a court of law
Main parties Democrats and Republicans (Put here in alphabetical order.)
Services Things our government provides us with: military defense, roads, safe water, police and firefighters, postal service, schools, parks
