Anatomical Position Position Erect, or standing posture with the arms at the sides and palms turned forward
Bilateral Symmetry The right and left sides of the body are mirror images of each other and only one plane can divide the body from left and right halves.
Anabolism chemical reactions that join simple molecules together to form more complex biomolecules such as carbs, lipids, proteins and nucleic acid, and requires energy.
Catabolism Chemical reactions that breakdown complex compounds into simple ones, and release energy.
Chromosome Found in the cell nucleus.Carry the genetic information and are made up of DNA and protein combined as chromatin.
Desmosome a cell structure specialized for cell-to-cell adhesion
Histology a study of tissues
Arrector Pili Muscle Small bundle of muscles at the base of the hair follicle that cause hair to rise.
Appendicular Skeleton Formations of appendages from the axial skeleton
Amphiarthrosis Slightly movable joint, such as the one that joins the two pubic bones.
