TermDefinition
Government The institution through which a society makes and enforces its public policies
Rights Powers or privileges granted to people either by an agreement among themselves or by law
Citizen A person with certain rights and responsibilities in his or her country or community
Democracy a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives.
Rules specific expectations about what our behavior should be
Laws rules of behavior established by a political authority and backed by state power
Election a vote to select the winner of a position or political office
Judicial Branch Interprets the laws
Legislative Branch Makes the laws
Executive Branch Enforces the laws
