Anatomy

TermDefinition
Homeostasis stability, balance, or equilibrium within a cell or the body.
Hypothalmus The thermostat of the brain.
Atomic number The number of protons in a atoms nucleus.
Mass number the mass of a single atom # of protons + neutrons
Covalent Bonds A chemical bond formed by the sharing of one or more pairs of electrons between the outer energy of 2 atoms
Lipids Are water-insoluble organic biomolecules. (Non-polar).
Carbohydrates Is a biomolecular that contains carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen
Prostaglandins Often called the tissue hormone. Lipids composed of a - carbon unsaturated fatty acid that contains a - carbon ring.
Cholesterol A steroid found in the plasma membrane that surrounds the body cell.
Amino Acids Elements that make up a protein molecule are bonded together that make chemical units.
Peptide bond binds the carboxyl group of one amino acid to the amino group of another amino acid.
ATP (Adenosine Triphosphate) A molecule that is made up of adenine and ribrose sugars. (Energy molecue) made by the mitochondria
