Bill of Rights

AmendmentRights Protected
1st Amendment Freedom of religion, speech, the press, assembly, and petitioning the government
2nd Amendment Right to bear arms
3rd Amendment The government can't force citizens to house soldiers
4th Amendment No unreasonable searches or seizures, police need a search warrant in order to search your property
5th Amendment Accused persons are protected from self incrimination, double jeopardy, and must go through due process of law. The idea of eminent domain is also mentioned.
6th Amendment Accused persons have the right to a fair trial, a jury or their peers, Habeas Corpus, witnesses on your behalf, and an attorney.
7th Amendment Right to a jury trial in cases involving money or property
8th Amendment Protection against excessive bail/fines or cruel and unusual punishments
9th Amendment You have rights that are not specifically listed within the Constitution
10th Amendment Powers that aren't given to the federal government will go to either the states or the people
