The Cranial Nerves and Their Functions

1. Olfactory Smell
2. Optic Vision
3. Oculomotor most eye movements, constricts pupil
4. Trochlear lateral eye movement
5. Trigeminal (clench teeth) General sense face and head, chewing
6. Abducens abducts eye
7. Facial Controls muscles of facial expression, tears; salivation
8. Vestibulocochlear (acoustic) Hearing and balance
9. Glossopharyngeal General sense posterior tongue & pharynx, swallowing, taste
10. Vagus Digestion, also carries motor impulses to the larynx and pharynx
11. Accessory (spinal) Controls muscles in the neck and larynx (sternocleidomastoid and trapezius)
12. Hypoglossal Tongue movement
