Sternocleidomastoid | Origin - Sternal Head - Top of Manubrium. Clavicular Head - Medial 1/3 of Clavicle. Insertion: Mastoid process, Sup. nuchal line. Action: Flex head & neck to same side. Rotate head & neck to opposite side. |
Anterior Scalene | Origin: TP of 3rd - 6th cervical vertebrae. Insertion: 1st rib. Action: Flex head & neck to same side. Rotate head & neck to opposite side. Elevate ribs during inhalation. Flex head & neck. |
Middle Scalene | Origin: TPs of 2nd - 7th cervical vertebrae. Insertion: 1st rib. Action: Flex head & neck to same side. Rotate hear & neck to opposite side. Elevate ribs during inhalation. |
Masseter | Origin: Zygomatic Arch. Insertion: angle and ramus of mandible. Action: Elevate mandible. |
Temporalis | Origin: Temporal fossa and fascia. Insertion: coronoid process of mandible. Action: Elevate mandible, retract mandible. |
Erector Spinae | Origin: Common tendon @ surface of sacrum, iliac crest, SP's of lumbar & last 2 thoracic vertebra. Insertion: posterior ribs, SP's & TP's of thoracic & cervical vertebra, and mastoid process. |
Splenius Capitus | Origin: Ligamentum nuchae, SP's of C7 - T3. Insertion: Mastoid process and lateral superior nuchal line. Action: Rotate head & neck to same side. Flex head & neck. Extend head & neck. |
Splenius Cervicis | Origin: SP's of T3 - T6. Insertion: Tp's of upper cervicals. Action: Rotate head & neck to same side. Flex head & neck. Extend head & neck. |
Quadratus Lumborum | Origin: Posterior Iliac Crest. Insertion: last rib & TP of 1st - 4th lumbar. Action: Tilt pelvis, flex vertebral column to same side. Assist to extend vertebral column. |
Rectus Abdominus | Origin: Pubic Crest & symphysis. Insertion: Cartiledge of 5th, 6ht, & 7th ribs and xiphoid process. Action: Flex vertebral column. |
External Obliques | Origin: Lower 8 ribs. Insertion: Anterior iliac crest, abdominal apneurosis. Action: flex vertebral column to same side. Rotate vertebral column to opposite side. Flex vertebral column. Compress abdominal contents. |
Internal Obliques | Origin: inguinal ligament, iliac crest and thoracolumbar fascia. Insertion: Internal surface of lower 3 ribs, abdominal apneurosis to linea alba. Action: Flex vertebral column to same side. Rotate vertebral column to same side. Flex vertebral column. |
