Body Cavities

TermDefinition
Dorsal cavity Back side of the body (divided into the cranial and spinal cavity)
Cranial cavity Holds the brain
Spinal Cavity Holds the spinal cord
Ventral Cavity Front side of the body (divided into two parts by the diaphragm)
Thoracic Cavity Above the diaphragm, holds the heart, lungs, and major blood vessels
Abdominal Cavity Below the diaphragm, holds the organs of the digestive and urinary systems
Pelvic Cavity Bottom portion of the abdominal cavity. Contains the reproductive system
