| LEGISLATURE | The law making body of a government |
| DICTATORSHIP | A form of government in which the political power is held by a self-appointed ruler |
| PRIME MINISTER | The head of government in a parliamentary democracy |
| MONARCHY | Ruled by a king or queen |
| PRESIDENTIAL DEMOCRACY | A system of government in which the president is directly elected by the citizens |
| DEMOCRACY | A country or nation that receives its power from the people |
| PARLIAMENTARY DEMOCRACY | Executive power is vested in a legislature. The legislature selects the executive branch |
| AUTOCRATIC | One person possesses unlimited government power |
| HEAD OF STATE | Ceremonial position with limited government power; often reserved for a monarch |
| HEAD OF GOVERNMENT | Leader of government with the most influence and power |
| EXECUTIVE | Branch of government responsible for carrying out the laws |
| PERSONAL FREEDOM | Basic rights given to citizens that include right to vote, equal rights freedom of press, speech and religion |
