LEGISLATURE The law making body of a government
DICTATORSHIP A form of government in which the political power is held by a self-appointed ruler
PRIME MINISTER The head of government in a parliamentary democracy
MONARCHY Ruled by a king or queen
PRESIDENTIAL DEMOCRACY A system of government in which the president is directly elected by the citizens
DEMOCRACY A country or nation that receives its power from the people
PARLIAMENTARY DEMOCRACY Executive power is vested in a legislature. The legislature selects the executive branch
AUTOCRATIC One person possesses unlimited government power
HEAD OF STATE Ceremonial position with limited government power; often reserved for a monarch
HEAD OF GOVERNMENT Leader of government with the most influence and power
EXECUTIVE Branch of government responsible for carrying out the laws
PERSONAL FREEDOM Basic rights given to citizens that include right to vote, equal rights freedom of press, speech and religion
