prefixes to better understand vocabulary

prefix example
tomy cutting - anatomy: the study of structure, which often involves cutting or removing body parts.
pleur rib - pleural membrane: this is a membrane that encloses the lungs and lines the thoracic cavity.
stasis standing still - homeostasis: maintenance of a stable internal environment.
peri around - pericardial: membrane that surrounds the heart
pelv basin - pelvic cavity: basic shaped cavity enclosed by the pelvic bones
pariet wall - parietal membrane: membrane that lines the wall of the cavity.
meta change - metabolism: chemical changes in the body.
-logy study of - physiology: study of body functions.
homeo same - homeostasis: maintenance of a stable internal environment.
dors back - dorsal: position toward the back
cran helmet - cranial: pertaining to the portion of the skull that surrounds the brain.
append the hand something - appendicular: pertaining to the limbs
cardi heart - pericardium: membrane that surrounds the heart.
