What were some issues that led to the Revolutionary War? British taxes, lack of representation, forcing Americans into the British military, etc.
What is the setup of the legislative branch? It is made up of the Senate and the House of Representives
What are the checks and balances of the individual branches of government? Executive can veto laws and appoint judicial, legislative can approve judicial, impeach executive, and override vetoes, and judicial can deem laws unconstitutional
What is the purpose behind checks and balances? To prevent any one branch from becoming too powerful
What are the tools used by the President to govern?
How are different government officials elected or appointed? Members of the executive and legislative branches are all elected by the people, while members of the judicial branch are appointed by the executive and must be approved by the legislative
What are the formal powers of the Presidency? Formal powers include the ability to command the military, veto legislative laws, and the power to make political appointment and to negotiate treaties with foreign nations.
What are the informal powers of the Presidency? Informal powers include the ability to enact a legislative agenda, executive orders, sending out troops without a declaration of war, and conducting foreign policy initiatives
