Skeletal system Provides structure & support, stores calcium, minerals, fats, marrow & supports the organs ex. bones & cartilage
Nervous system Control system of body. Responds to internal & external change; activates muscles & glands ex. brain, spinal cord, nerves
Endocrine system Glands that secrete hormones that regulate many processes. Adjusts metabolic activity, controls structural & functional changes during development ex. testes, ovaries, adrenal glands, pancreas, thyroid gland, pituitary gland
Circulatory (cardiovascular) system Distributes blood, water & dissolved nutrients waste products, oxygen and carbon dioxide ex. heart, blood, blood vessels
Lymphatic system Defends against infection & spleen ex. spleen, thymus, tonsils, lymph node
Respiratory system Supplies oxygen to the bloodstream & removes carbon dioxide ex. sinuses, bronchi, lungs, alveoli, nasal cavities, trachea, larynx
Digestive system Breaks down food & eliminates indigestible waste ex. teeth, tongue, pharynx, esophagus, stomach, small/large intestine, liver, gall bladder, pancreas
Urinary system Rids body of wastes. Regulates acid-base, electrolyte & water balance of blood ex. kidneys, ureters, bladder, urethra
Reproductive system Produce offspring female ex. mammary glands, ovary, vagina, uterus male ex. prostate gland, penis, testes, ductus deferens, scrotum
