Kokios buvo sąjungos, kurios kariavo viena su kita? Didžioji dauguma pasaulio šalių, įskaitant visas didžiąsias galias, galiausiai suformavo dvi priešingesnes karines sąjungas: Allies ir Axis.
Kiek žmonių kariavo šiame kare? Tai buvo labiausiai pasaulinis istorijos karas; tiesiogiai dalyvavo daugiau nei 100 milijonų žmonių iš daugiau nei 30 šalių.
