Nervous system

Brain parts

Thalamus The brain part that controls pain and temperature
Hypothalamus The part of the brain that controls your appetite, sleep and blood vessels
Pons It controls certain reflexes like, chewing, tasting, saliva production
Ventricles Part of the brain that contains clear, colorless fluid
Cerebellum This brain part is responsible for muscle coordination, balance and posture
Spinal cord This part carries messages from the brain to the nerves that go to the muscle and glands
Cerebrum The largest part of the brain, with 4 lobes
Cerebrospinal fluid This is a shock absorber, carries nutrients , and removes waste
Myelin sheath Fat covering on the neuron, and increases rate of impulses
Dendrite Nerve fibers that carry message to cell body
Neuron The basic structural unit of the nervous system
