Scapula | Shoulder blade |
Scapular spine | shelf on posterior side |
Acromion | large lateral tip |
Coracoid Process | "hook" opposite the acromion |
Supraspinous Fossa | depression above the scapular spine |
Infraspinous Fossa | depression below the scapular spine |
Subscapular Fossa | entire depressed anterior side |
Glenoid Fossa | depression between coracoid process and acromion |
Humerus | upper arm bone |
Head of Humerus | smooth large ball on medial proximal end |
Anatomical Neck of Humerus | groove around the head |
Surgical Neck of Humerus | constriction just below the proximal end |
Greater Tubercle of Humerus | knob on lateral proximal end, opposite the head |
Lesser Tubercle of Humerus | small knob on anterior proximal end |
Olecranon Fossa of Humerus | Depression on posterior side of distal end |
Medial Epicondyle of Humerus | Sharp process on medial side of distal end |
Lateral Epicondyle of Humerus | process on lateral side of distal end |
Ulna | Larger of two lower arm bones; looks like a wrench |
Olecranon Process of Ulna | large process at the proximal end; fits into the olecranon fossa on the humerus |
Styloid Process of Ulna | tiny process at most distal end |
Radius | Smaller of two bones in lower arm; lateral (thumb) side; looks like a golf tee |
Head of Radius | Proximal end (flat, disc-shaped) |
Radial Tuberosity | rough knob just under the head |
Styloid Process of Radius | pointed process at most distal end |
Carpals | wrist bones |
Metacarpals | five long bones that form the palm of the hand |
Phalanges | finger bones; three on each finger, two on the thumb |
