Ratification

TermDefinition
Articles of Confederation Agreement among 13 states to form a government.
National Refers to a whole country or nation
Trade This means exchange of goods or products
Federal governments This form of government has two parts: national and state governments.
Ratification This means to approve a document.
Debate This means a discussion with opposing arguments
Constitutional Convention The meeting of 13 states to write a new constitution.
Philadelphia A city where the Constitutional Convention was held.
Georgia One of the original 13 states
Pennsylvania The capital of this state is Philadelphia.
James Madison He is known as the father of the Constitution.
Federalist During the constitutional debate, this side supported strong government.
Anti-federalist During the constitutional debate, this side did not support strong government.
Federalist paper A series of newspaper articles to promote the Federalist position.
George Washington He presided over Constitutional Convention.
Delaware This was the first state to ratify the Constitution.
9 out 13 This is the number of states needed to ratify the Constitution.
