The nervous and endocrine systems act as a coordinated interlocking supersystem called? The neuroendocrine system.
The endocrine system controls body activities by releasing mediator molecules called? Horomones.
The nervous system controls the body actions through....? Nerve Impulses
The nervous system causes muscles and glands to do what? It causes muscles to contract and glands to secrete.
General Functions of Horomones help regulate what...? extracellular fluid, metabolism, biological clock,contraction of cardiac & smooth muscle, glandular secretion, and some immune functions. It also helps regulate Growth & Development, and Reproduction.
What are the five main endocrine glands? Pituitary, Thyroid, Parathyroid, Pineal, and adrenal glands.
Exocrine Glands are defined as...? Glands that have ducts, they also secrete products into ducts wich empty into the body cavities or body surface.
What types glands are associated with exocrine glands? sweat, oil, mucous, and digestive glands.
What is the major integrating link between the nervous and endocrine system? The Hypothalamus.
The hypothalamus and the pituitary gland regulate virtually all aspects of what...? Growth, development, metabolism, and homeostasis.
What are the horomones of the Anterior Pituitary Gland? Human growth hormone (hGH), Thyroid-stimulating horome (TSH), Follicle-stimulating horomne (FSH) and Luteinizing hormone (LH), Prolactin (PRL), Adrenocortcotrophic hormone (ACTH) and Melanocyte-stimulating hormone (MSH).
What two hormones are stored and released by the Posterior Pituitary Gland? Oxytocin (OT) and Antidiuretic hormone (ADH).
What hormones does the Thyroid Gland secrete? Thyroxine (T4) and Triidodthyronine (T3) also parafollicular cells, which secrete calcitonin (CT).
