Tissue Description
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Simple squamous epithelium | Single layer of flat, then sells that substances to pass through easily. Very delicate |
| Simple Cuboidal epithelium | Cube shaped cells usually centrally located spherical nuclei |
| Simple columnar epithelium | Composed of a single layer of a long gated cells, usually at about the same level near the basement level |
| Stratified squamous epithelium | Many layers relatively thick, flat on surface, more cuboidal the deeper they are |
| Stratified columnar epithelium | Top layer of elongated cells, lower layers of cube shaped cells |
| Pseudostratified columnar epithelium | Single layer, elongated cells, Movement of mucus and cells |
| Transitional epithelium | Many layers of cube shaped Andi long gated cells, Specialized to change shape in response to tension |
| Skeletal muscle tissue | Long, threadlike cells, striated, many nuclei |
| Smooth muscle tissue | Shorter cells, single, central nucleus |
| Cardiac muscle tissue | Branch the cells, striated, single nucleus |
| Nervous tissue | Cell with the cytoplasmic extensions |
| Connective tissue | Mostly have good blood supply, cells are farther apart and cells of epithelia, with matrix in between |
| Epithelial tissue | Lack of blood vessels, cells readily divide, cells are tightly packed |
| Muscle tissue | Contractile |
