pancreas exocrine gland
islets of langerhans produce pancreas hormones: endocrine (inside)
where are islets of langerhans located endocrine tissue in the pancreas
main cells in each islet alpha cells + beta cells
alpha cells make glucagon when sugar is needed in the blood
beta cells make insulin when sugar is too high in the blood
delta cells make somatostatin a growth hormone
alpha cells are located on the outside
beta cells are located on the cell core
