COMPUTERIZED MEDICAL OFFICE TERMINOLOGY

QuestionAnswer
Chart Number A number or alpha character assigned to the medical record.
Charting The process of writing in the medical record.
Co-payment A fixed fee that the patient pays at the time of their visit.
Deductible The amount the patient has to pay before the insurance company begins making payments.
Enconter form Contains the medical office's most commin procedures and diagnosis codes, including the patients name, address and billing information.
Front desk The area where patients may check-in and are made to feel welcome.
Guarantor The person responsible for paying the bill.
Information cycle A series of steps performed before, during and after the patient has been seen by the provider.
Lytec Medical 2001 A medical practice management software system for use in medical offices.
Medical Practice Management Software Software that is used to; schedule patients, submit electronic claims to the nsurance company and perform simplified accounting procedures.
Provider A general term referring to physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners.
Responsible party Another name for guarantor.
Superbill Another name for the encounter form.
