Policy that is Domestic

| Domestic Policy | Administrative decisions that are directly related to all issues and activity within a nation's borders. |
| LBJ's "War on Crime" | A turn towards federal involvement in the fight against crime. |
| Gun Control | The set of laws or policies that regulate the manufacture, sale, transfer, possession, modification, or use of firearms by civilians. |
| Federal spending on crime initiatives (officers, prisons) | |
| Harsher punishments (federal crimes) | |
| Three strikes law | Criminal statutes that mandate increased sentences for repeat offenders, usually after three serious crimes. |
| "War on Drugs" | The government's attempt to discourage the production, distribution, and consumption of drugs they determined to be illegal. |
| Brown v Board | A landmark United States Supreme Court case in which the Court declared state laws establishing separate public schools for black and white students to be unconstitutional. |
| State Government's role in Education | State gov's role is maintenance and operation, as well as involvement in the establishment, selection, and regulation of curriculum, teaching methods, and instructional materials in their schools. |
| Elementary and Secondary Education Act | Funded primary and secondary education, and emphasizes equal access to education and established high standards and accountability. |
| Department of Education | Establishes policy for, administers and coordinates most federal assistance to education. It assists the president in executing his education policies for the nation and in implementing laws enacted by Congress. |
| School Vouchers | A government-funded voucher redeemable for tuition fees at a school other than the public school that a student could attend free. |
| No Child Left Behind | States lose funding if they are not able to meet the federal governments standards for education. Including the standardized tests, and boosting performance of english-learners, the poor and minorities, and students in special education. |
| Renewable resources | Resources which can be used repeatedly because it is replaced naturally. Examples are: oxygen, fresh water, solar energy, timber, and biomass. |

| Toxic Waste Disposal (Superfund) | Federal government program designed to fund the cleanup of sites contaminated with hazardous substances and pollutants. |
| Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) | Created for the purpose of protecting human health and the environment., the agency conducts environmental assessment, research, and education. It also has the responsibility of maintaining and enforcing national standards. |
| Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) | Required document describing the positive and negative environmental effects of a proposed action, and it usually also lists one or more alternative actions that may be chosen instead of the action described in the EIS. |
| Clean Air Act (1970) | This legislation authorized the development of comprehensive federal and state regulations to limit emissions from both stationary (industrial) sources and mobile sources. |
| Water Pollution Control Act (1972) | Established the basic structure for regulating pollutant discharges into the waters and gave EPA the authority to implement pollution control programs such as setting wastewater standards for industry. |
| Endangered Species Act (1973) | Conservation of species that are endangered or threatened throughout all or a significant portion of their range, and the conservation of the ecosystems on which they depend. |
| Medicare | Federal health insurance program for people who are 65 or older, certain younger people with disabilities, and people with End-Stage Renal Disease. |
| Medicaid | Health care program that assists low-income families or individuals in paying for long-term medical and custodial care costs. |
| Veteran Administration (VA) | A government-run military veteran benefit system with Cabinet-level status. |
