| Exteraneous | irrelevant or unrelated to the subject being dealt with. The extraneous noise from the street was keeping us awake all night. |
| frivolous | not having any serious purpose or value. Less frivolous than someone I know. |
| incidental | accompanying but not a major part of something. Every day their is an incidental thing that happens to everyone for a reason. |
| inconsequential | not important or significant. Everything is inconsequential except for family. |
| irrelevant | not connected with or relevant to something. There is irrelevant information going on in the news. |
| negligible | so small or unimportant as to be not worth considering; insignificant. on a quiz with short questions I only spend a negligible amount of time studying. |
| peripheral | relating to or situated on the edge or periphery of something. Do not spend too much time on the peripheral questions because of the time. |
| petty | of little importance; trivial. The officer did not arrest the teen for the petty crime. |
| superficial | appearing to be true or real only until examined more closely. I still only have a superficial knowledge of the higher-level concepts of the subject. |
| trifling | unimportant or trivial. My time is too valuable to spend on trifling matters that have little worth. |
| trivial | of little value or importance. It’s a complete waste of time and energy to continue to argue over such a trivial matter. |
