interpretation | an explanation of the meaning of another's artistic or creative work. |
introduction | the opening sentences or paragraphs of a written work in which the writer captures the reader's attention and represents a thesis statement to be developed in the writing. |
justify | to show, be just, or right. |
key events | most important things that happen in a story |
mental picture | image you see within your mind |
multi-paragraph | piece of writing that is longer than a single paragraph |
multiple meanings | sometimes called homonyms, words that are spelled the same but have different meanings when used in specific contexts |
narrative writing | a story or description of events that may or may not be true |
observation | action or process of observing something in order to gain information |
organize | to form as or into a whole consisting of interdependent or coordinated parts. |
paraphrase | restating an author's ideas in different words |
phrase | a group of words that has meaning but is not a complete sentence. |
Plagiarism | The use of ideas or writings of another author, representing them as one’s original. |
Plot | The plan, scheme, or main story of literary or dramatic work. |
Point of View | The position of the narrator in relation to the story derived from the author's depiction of events and attitude toward the characters. |
Pre-Write | Is the first stage of the writing process, typically followed by drafting, revision, editing end publishing. |
precise language | definitely or strictly stated, defined, or fixed: precise directions. |
presentation | An act of presenting. |
punctuation | Marks or symbols used to make the meaning of written material clear. |
purpose | the intended or desired result of a piece of writing or spoken material. |
quotations | material that is repeated exactly. |
reference | use of a source of information in order to understand something |
relationships-relevant | The way in which two or more concepts, objects, or people are connected, or the state of being connected. |
