atrium receive blood
right atrium receive deoxygenated blood from the whole body
left atrium receive oxygenated blood from the lungs
ventricles push blood out of the heart
right ventricle send blood to the lungs to get oxygen
left ventricle send blood to the whole body to deliver oxygen and nutrients
valves prevent back flow of blood
tricuspid valve allow blood to flow from right atrium to right ventricle and not to flood back into the right atrium
pulmonary valve allow blood to flow from right ventricle into pulmonary artery and not back into the right ventricle
bicuspid valve allows blood to flow from left atrium to left ventricle and not back into left atrium
aortic valve allows blood to flow from left ventricle into aorta and not back into left ventricle
veins carry blood TO the heart
vena cavas carry blood to the RIGHT SIDE of the heart
pulmonary veins carry blood from lungs to the left atrium
pulmonary arteries carry blood to lungs from right ventricle
aorta carries blood to heart leaving the whole body
