FDA publishes: “Approved Drug Products with Therapeutic Equivalence Evaluations” or the “List” (orange book) Drug shortages, recalls and safety Newly approved medications and medical devices
MedlinePlus- is an easy-to-use reference for quick information on a medication written in a easy-to-read format. The information also includes the latest information on supplements and herbs
FDA Consumer Page- latest information on approved drugs, Treatments for Medical Problems, Generic Drugs, Prescription Drugs and Over-the-Counter (OTC) Drugs, and Dietary Supplements
ASHP- is an independent resource that is the backbone of the consumer drug information of many popular websites, including the National Library of Medicine and Medline Plus Drugs, Supplements, and Herbal Information.
AHFS Drug Information (AHFS-DI)system for health system patients- provides an evidence-based foundation for safe and effective drug therapy
Lexicomp Online (CCHS Formulary) - provides patient education printable information in an easy-to-read (5th-to-7th grade reading level) Adult vs Pediatric leaflets available
American Hospital Formulary Service (AHFS)- Published by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP)
Evidence-Based Practice (EBP)- is “the conscientious, explicit and judicious use of current best evidence in making decisions about the care of the individual patient.
Evidence-Based Information- the use of information which has been examined by experts in the particular field of inquiry and found to be the current substantiation of the information available
