DSS - decision support system computer-based, gathers data from various sources, provides structure to data using various analytical models/visual tools to facilitate/improve ultimate outcome in decision-making tasks associated with nonroutine/nonrepetitive problems

data cleansing the process of detecting, dx, and editing faulty data
DDL - data definition language - DML - data manipulation language software, creates tables in DB (ex: SQL) used to retrieve, update, edit data in DB (relational)
DEEDS - Data Elements for Emergency Dept Systems Data set supports uniform collection of info in hospital-based EDs
Data mart well-organized, user-centered, searchable DB system, draws info from data warehouse
Data warehouse DB facilitates info from multiple DBs, combines results into single query and reporting interface
(clinical) Data repository (CDR) central DB that focuses on clinical info
Data warehousing All business data/info from potentially multiple cross-platform sources; warehouse storage of all data in one consistent format

Decision tree structured data-mining technique based on set of rules useful for predicting/classifying info & making decisions
