TermDefinition
Genetics a branch of biology that studies heredity
Heredity passing on of characteristics from parents to offspring
Genes The characteristics in cells that determine what will be passed from parents to children
Inherit to receive from a parent or ancestor
Trait a characteristic that is inherited and can either be recessive or dominant
Dominant observed traits of an organism that mask that recessive trait
Recessive trait of an organism that can be masked by the dominant form of the trait
Offspring the first generation of descendants produced by an animal or plant
Learned Behavior A learned behavior is one that an organism develops as a result of experience
Instinct can be performed without any prior experience or training
