The Heart

Apex The bottom of the heart (the pointy bottom)
Base The top of the heart (vessel area)
Aorta The largest artery, up through left ventricle
Right Auricle Attached to right atrium (cone shaped pouch)
Left Auricle Anterior surface of left atrium (thin pouch of the heart wall)
Right Atria Right upper chamber of the heart
Left Atria Superior left side of heart
Right Ventricle Inferior right side of heart below right atrium
Left Ventricle Inferior left side of heart below left atrium
Interventricular Septum Wall between left and right ventricle
Pulmonary Trunk Large artery from top left of heart
Superior Vena Cava Top right valve
Inferior Vena Cava Bottom of the top right valve
Tricuspid Valve Right valve between the right atrium and right ventricle
Bicuspid Valve Left valve between the left atrium and left ventricle
Aortic Valve Large middle valve between the superior vena cava and pulmonary trunk
Chordea Tendinae The stings or string-like bands inside the heart
Papillary Muscle Long thicker strings or strands inside the heart close to the chordae tendinae
Epicardium The outer layer of the heart (outside casing)
Myocardium The thick middle layer of the heart (muscle, what looks like meat)
Endocardium The inner lining of the heart (inside the holes, the shiny stuff)
