Anterior Front surface of the body.
Caudal Near or pertaining to the Tail
Cephalic Near or pertaining to the head.
Posterior Behind; Back surface of the body.
Distal Away from the center.
Dorsal Pertains to the back.
Frontal Pertains to the front side of the body.
Inferior Below
Superior Above
Prone Lying face down
Supine Lying face up.
Proximal Nearest the center of the body.
Sagittal Verticle Plane, divides body into R. and L. halves
Transverse Crosswise or Horizontal plane that divides the body into upper and lower portions.
Ventral Pertaining to the belly; (Umbilical)
