Political process

TermDefinition
Two-Party System- A political system in which there are two major political parties
Party Platform- A political party’s statement of its goals and positions on public issues
Candidate- Person who is running for political office
Propaganda- Methods used to promote a particular person or idea
Bias- coming at something from only one side because of a previous S relationship or other association
Electoral College- a group or body of representatives chosen by popular vote which formally elect the President and Vice President of the United States of America.
Influence- to change or affect the thought or behavior of a person
Campaign- a series of activities, such as giving speeches or handing out flyers, designed to help a person get elected to a public office
Ways for people to register to vote Registrar's Office, Department of Motor Vehicles, Online, and By Mail
Wealthy- Having a lot of money; rich
Mass Media Candidates use it to communicate with the public on TV, radio, newspapers, magazines, recordings, movies and books.
Electorate people who can vote in an election
Political Spectrum a scale used to measure how liberal or conservative a person or group is. Candidates tend to aim toward the center.
Winner-Take-All system Electoral college system where if someone wins a popular vote in a state they take all of the electoral votes for that state.
