It's origin is the infraspinous fossa of the scapula. It laterally rotates the humerus. It inserts on the humerus. Infraspinatus muscle with the suprascapular nerve as well as teres minor muscle with the axillary nerve.
It's origin is the subscapular fossa of the scapula. It medially rotates the humerus. It's insertion is on the humerus. Subscapularis muscle with the upper and lower subscapular nerves (C5 and C6).
