Question/TermAnswer/Definition
How does the mouth aid digestion? Saliva breaks down food chemically. Maltase and amylase can break down carbs into simple sugars. Tongue pushes food to back of mouth.
Epiglottis Stops food from going down trachea instead of esophagus
Peristalsis Muscle contractions that move food to different processing stations in the digestive tract
Amylase An enzyme that helps digest carbs. Made in the pancreas
