integumentary forms the external body covering, protects ex: skin
respiratory gives blood oxygen and removes carbon dioxide ex: larynx, pharynx, trachea, lung
reproductive involved with the production of offspring ex: testes, penis, ovaries, uterus
cardiovascular transport gases, nutrients, and waste products around the body ex: heart (possibly endocrine also, hormone ANP), blood vessels
skeletal protects, provides framework for muscle attachment, site of blood cell formation ex: bones
endocrine secretes hormones that regulate body functions ex: thyroid gland, testes, adrenal gland, ovaries, pituitary gland, thymus, pancreas
digestive breaks down food for nutrients and eliminates waste products ex: large intestine, esophagus, stomach, pharynx, liver, small intestine
lymphatic returns leaked fluids to blood vessels, immunity ex: spleen, thymus
urinary eliminates nitrogenous waste from the body and regulates the pH of blood ex: ureter, bladder, kidneys, urethra
nervous fast-acting control system of the body ex: brain, spinal cord
muscular movement, maintains posture, produces heat ex: muscles
