| respiratory | gives blood oxygen and removes carbon dioxide ex: larynx, pharynx, trachea, lung |
| reproductive | involved with the production of offspring ex: testes, penis, ovaries, uterus |
| cardiovascular | transport gases, nutrients, and waste products around the body ex: heart (possibly endocrine also, hormone ANP), blood vessels |
| skeletal | protects, provides framework for muscle attachment, site of blood cell formation ex: bones |
| endocrine | secretes hormones that regulate body functions ex: thyroid gland, testes, adrenal gland, ovaries, pituitary gland, thymus, pancreas |
| digestive | breaks down food for nutrients and eliminates waste products ex: large intestine, esophagus, stomach, pharynx, liver, small intestine |
| lymphatic | returns leaked fluids to blood vessels, immunity ex: spleen, thymus |
| urinary | eliminates nitrogenous waste from the body and regulates the pH of blood ex: ureter, bladder, kidneys, urethra |
| nervous | fast-acting control system of the body ex: brain, spinal cord |
| muscular | movement, maintains posture, produces heat ex: muscles |
