What is the parliment in Israel called? Knesset.
Who or what do israeli citizens vote for? The political party that best represents them which includes the knesset.
What do most Israel's Jewish citizens see themselves as? Secular, meaning they do not feel the country's laws should be based solely on religious belifs.
How often are elections held in Israel? 4 years, but that may change if the party in pwer begins to lose support of the majority of the Knesset members. In that case, elections for a new knesset may be held earlier than scheduled.
Who does the executive branch include in Israel? The prime minister and a president who is the head of state.
Who makes the laws in Israel? The Prime MInister and Knesset.
Which country is most like the United States? Israel.
What type of government does Iran have? A theocracy.
What is a theocracy? A government in which god is seen as the true leader of the government and the countr's religious leaders serve as the political leaders.
Who is in the executive branch of Iran? Iran has a populary elected president and legislature, but religious leaders play a big role in the governments leadership as well.
What age are citizens allowed to vote in Iran? All citizens 15 to 18 or older is allowed to vote.
What are most Iranians a member of? The Shia group of Islam.
What do the Shia generally believe? They believe that their religious leaders should play an active role in making political decisions, so many Shia clerics, or religious leaders, are involved in Iranian politics.
How much power do the citizens of Iran have? Very little.
Who makes the laws in Iran? The Assembly of Experts.
What type of legislature does Iran have? A parliment.
What type of government does Saudi Arabia have? A monarchy, or hereditary monarchy.
What does hereditary monarchy mean relating to a monarchy? The government is lead by a king who comes from a family that has ruled the country for several generations.
What royal family rules Saudi Arabia? The Saud family.
Who makes the laws in Saudi Arabia? The king and his advisors make the laws.
How long does the king rule in a monarchy? HIs whole life.
What type of constitution is there in Saudi Arabia? There is no written constitution.
What does Shariah Law mean? Laws based on the teachings of the holy book, the Qur,an.
Do religious leaders play a role in the descisions made by the monarchy in Saudi Arabia? YES!
