| Full faith and Credit Clause | Requires states to recognize the laws, records, and judicial decisions of other states |
| Elastic Clause | Congress has the authority to do whatever is necessary and proper to carry out its job |
| Establishment Clause | Congress cannot create an official religion of favor one religion over another |
| Free Exercise Clause | people have the right to practice any religion or no religion as long as it does not break the law |
| Supremacy Clause | US Constitution is the highest law in the land |
| Preamble | the beginning of the US constitution that describes its purposes |
| Precedent | an earlier court decision that guides the judges' decisions in later cases |
| Judicial Review | power of the US Supreme Court to judge an act or law unconstitutional |
| Due Process | following the legal procedures required by law |
| Suffrage | right to vote |
| Double Jeopardy | being tried for the same crime after a jury has found you not guilty |
| Eminent Domain | government can take private property for public use |
| Self-incrimination | testifying against your self |
| Prohibition | no alcohol |
| Presidential Succession | the order of the people who would replace the President |
| Poll Tax | a tax a person has to pay to register to vote |
| Slander | spoken lies |
| Libel | written lies |
| Exclusionary Rule | a rule of evidence which prevents introducing information at trial that directly originates from illegal police investigation |
