| What is the main function of the Executive Branch? | To execute and uphold the law of the United States |
| Who is the head of the Executive Branch? | The President |
| Who is the second in command? | The Vice President |
| What is executive power? | When an executive executes and enforces the law. |
| How a president get his/her job? | Each state meets and elects a number of electors = to its number of senators and representatives in Congress (none can be a member of Congress or a person with an office of trust). The electors meet, cast ballots and elect the president. |
| Minimum age requirement for president: | 35 |
| citizenship requirement? | Natural born citizen OR citizen of the US at the time the Constitution was adopted |
| residency requirement? | resident of the United for at least 14 years |

| What role does the president have with the military? | Commander and Chief of the Army and Navy and of the Militia of the several states. |
| What role does the president have with the executive departments? | He can appoint Officers of the executive departments |
| What can he do to hold them accountable? | He can require written opinions from the principal officers of each of the executive departments concerning their duties. |
| What are the executive department heads, or chief presidential advisors called? | In the constitution, they are called principal officers, heads of departments. We know them as Secretary of.... Together, they make up the President's Cabinet. |
| What are the agreements that the president can make with foreign nations called? | Treaties |
| Who can the president nominate or appoint? | ambassadors, other public ministers and Consuls; judges of the Supreme Court; all other officers whose appointments are not otherwise provided for. |
| What is the State of the Union and why is it an important presidential responsibility? | The State of the Union is given by the President to the Congress to give Congress information about the State of the Union. |
| What does the president recommend in the State of Union address? | He tells Congress what measures are necessary and expedient. |
