What is a mixed economy? An economic system combining private and public enterprise.
What is a Communist state? A state that its government is ruled by one party in hopes of achieving communism.
What is social contract theory? typically addresses the questions of the origin of society and the legitimacy of the authority of the state over the individual.
What are Federal system advantages? Better understanding, separation of power, people feel more in power.
What is Economic assistance? the government help out the economy with job spikes and loans.
What are political parties? an organised group of people with at least roughly similar political aims and opinions, that seeks to influence public policy by getting its candidates elected to public office.
What is Majority rule? the principle that the greater number should exercise greater power.
What is Rule of law? the restriction of the arbitrary exercise of power by subordinating it to well-defined and established laws.
What are checks and balances? A fundamental principle of American government, guaranteed by the Constitution, whereby each branch of the government (executive, judicial, and legislative) has some measure of influence over the other branches and may choose to block procedures of the o
What is Sovereignty? the authority of a state to govern itself or another state.
What is Leadership? the action of leading a group of people or an organization.
Who was Thomas Hobbes? an English philosopher, best known today for his work on political philosophy.
What public services were preformed by the government? road work, schools, churches, parks, public buildings.
What is the purpose of the presidential veto? This veto can be overridden only by a two-thirds vote in both the Senate and the House. Explain how a command economy works/ what are it's characteristics One of the defining characteristics of this type of economy is the fact that all decisions relating to the economy are decided by a central body, such as the government or leader.
